WALK AND TALK NATURE THERAPY
Walk and Talk Nature Therapy © WTNT is a mind-body medicine integrative psychotherapy approach created by Dr. Melisa. WTNT was developed to incorporate mind body medicine for wellness and deep levels of healing, psychotherapy to heal the mind and to have a psychotherapist yet human to human experience with the client, to incorporate all the benefits of yoga such as breathing, movement and relaxation and to finally be held in nature for the session and to experience the lessons of nature therapy. WTNT follows a yoga structure, we begin with breathing then movement which is a 30 minute walking and talking focused on traditional and integrative approaches of counseling, then a connection with nature through mindfulness meditation and embodied awareness exercises. In the initial pilot and subsequent small study this approach was found to be highly effective for depression and anxiety.

Furthermore, WTNT was developed due to my deep love of nature and "the more than human world." Many human beings have lost their deep connection with the natural world. This disconnection is negatively impacting our psychological and physical health. When we realize that nature is a living, breathing entity, in which we are intricately connected, then healing occurs for both, humans and the earth.
WTNT in initial studies was preferred to a traditional psychotherapy approach, showed positive mental health results, and each participant experienced a human - earth connection. We are offering virtual Walk and Talk Nature Sessions for individuals not in the Williamsport, MD area. We are offering limited number of WTNT sessions, with me on the C & O Trail.
For Clinicians: This approach gives us practitioners a wellness holistic approach to the psychological health of human beings with the hopes that this approach will “wake us up” to the importance of the planet and to find our place humble place within the web of life which is beneficial and healing.
